On the occasion of the 7th International Plant Vascular Biology Conference from July 7 to 11 in Osaka (PVB2025), Prof. Dr. Uwe Sonnewald was able to present the work of the Chair of Biochemistry on the biotechnological improvement of cassava plants to an expert audience in Osaka, Japan. He reported on the work of the CASS consortium and was able to present promising data on yield-improving approaches. The aim of the conference was to provide a platform for researchers to exchange new findings on the structure and function of plant vascular systems. The focus was on the phloem and xylem, which are crucial for the transport of water, nutrients and signaling molecules as well as for the development and environmental responses of plants. The conference also presented approaches to developing sustainable solutions for agricultural, forestry and ecological challenges. This also included the contribution from Erlangen.
